And His name will be called Wonderful, Counsellor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father,  the Prince of Peace....

He is all of these things and more! I send you a wish this Christmas for an increased relationship with our King of Kings!

May His presence infuse you and your family this Christmas season!

The command of Jesus was not just to reach people, not just to make converts. He said make disciples. …… Making disciples is not a “been there, done that, check the box, let’s move on” project.
Making disciples takes time. It means forming trusting relationships. It’s not as glamorous. It doesn’t lend itself to measurable statistics or great photo ops. It certainly isn’t as exciting as “going where no Christian has come before”, but it is what we were told to do.

Update.....

Just thinking that you may not realize that even while we are here on Canada side, there are many programs continuing in the D.R. Congo;

- the special program for seniors of Bukavu (has become lifegiving to many. They are seeing Jesus through this great outreach!)
- the church plants in both Kinshasa and Bukavu (since May 2019, New Life Bukavu has outgrown their facility and have more than 100 in attendance....isn't God amazing?)
- orphans being fed and attending schools
- vulnerable women operating marketable skills under Wezesha, our micro-finance post. As they do this, they are able to feed their families, send their children to school, and feel a great sense of hope! (all of which was previously unattainable)
- pastors and leaders are serving their communities with greater empowerment, as they meet the many needs of their people.
- Hiltop Farm is preparing to restart, following the devastation of all chickens in the area. The new water tanks on the grounds will be a great asset.

We have been using our time here to plan forward. For example, wouldn't it be great to have the seniors gather together with the orphans? This can give a sense of purpose for the seniors, and provide an opportunity to pass on the wisdom they have. The orphans would gain a 'grandma' who prays with and for them and expresses interest in their lives! Very low cost and very high gain.

So please continue to pray for us and for Congo! God is hearing and answering!

Thanks everyone!

walk with me......

This was my test to see if I can post tiny videos. Sorry, this is my smallest video.

We were going to an orphanage we support, in a destitute area. They always have need of food, medicine, and school supplies and uniforms. This group also feeds and supports a number of widows.

We are happy to deliver reading glasses from the Lion's Club to places where they are so needed.
These pastors and leaders were able to read their Bibles again!
They were filled with joy and so were we!

Isaiah 6:8  (NLT)

Then I heard the Lord asking“Whom
should I send as a messenger to this
people? Who will go for us?”

there are times these words seem so loud!!

just a wee challenge for all of us today.....

the gospel doesn’t depend upon human power but the gospel comes with its own power; the very power of God.

We might not be called to go into all the world but we’re without excuse if we don’t start with our own neighbours. Every believer is called to that.

Paul ran toward his calling while Jonah ran away.

I pray this will be the day we ALL run TOWARD our calling!

Blessings my friends. 💝

God is pursuing with omnipotent passion a worldwide purpose of gathering joyful worshipers for Himself from every tribe and tongue and people and nation. He has an inexhaustible enthusiasm for the supremacy of His name among the nation. Therefore, let us bring our affections into line with HIS, and, for the sake of His name, let us renounce the quest for worldly comforts and join His global purpose."

AMEN!

it was a tremendous time spent with these pastors and leaders for a 5 day seminar

our time together ended with a Sunday crusade

it was the end of our journey and the beginning of other journeys!

our goal is to live lives that make a difference......in the Name of Jesus!

A very hard working people! They will walk many miles each day to sell their produce and walk back home to do it all over again the next day.
Many of the women doing this are not young.
While we look at this photo, they are still working faithfully each day to provide for their families.

Prayers do make a difference. And you too can pray for these ladies right where you are today, right now! Thank you!

Tupende Wazee

Am I repeating myself? If so, sorry!

I just love this photo of the seniors' group supported by Together Building Africa!

This was a vision of Mapendo's. Seniors suffer from poverty, stress, and loss of loved ones. Many of them have inadequate accommodation.  The building we rent has a couple of rooms that can be used as a shelter when there is a need.

In this photo, they are celebrating the gift of new clothes. They were each given a comforter and some material, for Christmas. They were overwhelmed and so thankful.

This is the kind of help we are able to provide because of the support you give.

One day, as I was walking past their meeting place, they rushed over to surround me and sing a song. Such a special moment. Wish you were there!

Being a missionary means your heart has two homes. There is always a family you are missing
.....but still....

thankful, grateful, blessed to be a missionary!

feeling blessed......

Welcome......

We are so happy to welcome Pastor Raha & Mapendo to Canada!

We are a team working together for ministry in the D.R. Congo.
They keep me safe, provide a home and family for me, and manage our projects. TBA is very blessed to have them working with us! They are a tremendous blessing.

Now we have the privilege of sharing the Canada side of our mission with them.

I hope we will be able to meet many of you. I would like to introduce you and give you the opportunity to hear what TBA is doing in Congo.

If you would like the team to visit your church, just contact my email.

Thanks for praying!

We were able to leave Goma and get to Kinshasa at last!

The first Sunday in our church plant here was a great time of renewal of acquaintances & rejoicing together as a family! Only God builds a family like this!

Here is a photo of some of the leaders we have been blessed with...

aaaaaannnndd.............

back to Goma!
Today they accepted my documents = YAY!
Kinshasa we're coming home....see you tomorrow.

This is Raha, myself, and Mokili. Mokili did a great job of helping with the church plant in Kinshasa, so I was hoping he might return. His response, "No, Mama, you need a son every place you go, to take care of you"
Such kindness, I am blessed!

and now....

after many efforts in futility, we were unable to fly without official documents.
So we returned to Bukavu!
We left the last of the Lion's Club glasses in Goma to be distributed where they are most needed.
We leave for Goma on Thursday AGAIN, to fly on Friday.
(we are now in possession of official papers)
Then I have 2 weeks to get my passport back....so that I will be able to fly to Canada.

Here is 'our' boat (the orange one).....3 hours to Bukavu

as we leave Goma....

update...

we are here in Goma until some official travel papers arrive for me. Praying that will happen on Monday. We have had to change our flights. 😣 ( apparently, this is called the persevering face".....so we are persevering)

Friday, June 7, 2019

Farewell to Bukavu.....

3 hours to Goma, and then a day of meetings, followed by a flight to Kinshasa the following day.
My passport is in Kinshasa, not with me. I am only carrying pohotocopies, so I pray the airport will be content with that.
Please pray!
(why is my passport in Kinshasa, you ask?......getting a gov't visa renewal.....needed every 5 years)

busy Sundays.....

Sundays are very busy here. We spent time with 2 churches in the morning. This is Behtsaida;

there were 2 baby dedications. This one was a surprise for me.......meet wee Doreen Simba!

Always a joy to spend time with dear friends, sharing love and laughter. A cross-cultural oneness only found in Jesus! Such a great blessing!
